Hi, I’m Taryn Teare, an enthusiastic lover of life and all things natural and healthy. This is a space for me to share with you my knowledge and thoughts and hopefully help and inspire other families to live life…naturally.
This journey started years ago for me, after being knocked off my bicycle by a car and suffering a head injury among a few other injuries. I started having mild seizures and so the doctors put me on an antidepressant and recommended lots of sleep. Now while I’m a huge advocate of sleep, my body became dependant on the medication, this truly frightened me!
It took me a year to gradually wean myself off the medication, it really bothered me how these chemicals had affected me. And so it was during this time that my journey towards natural health and lifestyle began.
After school I studied to become a chef, I have an absolute love for food, and cooking for others makes me so happy. However, it was the arrival of my son and those primal mama instincts kicking in that really got me started on this journey of all things natural and healthy. I quickly learned when my son was just a few months old that he was dairy intolerant, add that to my gluten intolerance and you have a recipe for clean living and lifestyle changes.
As a single mother to start I wasn’t always on top of our meals and nutrition. I completely understand what its like to get home from a long day, or work and to now have to cook a healthy meal for you and your family. It can be exhausting and frustrating, especially when the little ones don’t want to eat whats in front of them. All that said, at the end of the day, I am the parent and the best way to teach my son was to live by example. I started putting my foot down with what I allowed him to eat and encouraged him to try everything on his plate. It wasn’t easy to start, and there were nights when I wanted to just give up and feed him something he liked that would be quick and easy. My conscious effort to eat better and to feed him more nutrient-dense meals started paying off, meal by meal.
Discipline was the key here, not only with myself but with him too. I’ve learnt a few tricks along the way to make life easier for us both and learned a lot about health, allergies, nutrition and tasty cooking.
Now I want to help other mothers, whether pregnant, breastfeeding, introducing foods, or struggling with their kids always getting sick and not eating right. I get so excited to help moms and to teach them ways of getting in all the goodness into their family meals.
